The history of gambling is a long one and although it’s hard to tell exactly how long humans have been placing wagers on the prospects of a particular thing happening, it’s certainly safe to say that the practice has been going on for hundreds – if not thousands – of years. However, when it comes to choosing those perfect Gifts for Him, there really are no reasons to take any kinds of risks.

So, if you’re starting to consider possible Gifts for Him – and if the man in your life is a fan of one of the world’s most popular games – why not treat him to gifts based on this great game? While he might be happy taking risks and raising the stakes, you can choose Gifts for Him that will make bluffing a completely unnecessary exercise; the Royal Flush of gifts if you like.

For the ultimate poker slots night in for the boys – and maybe even the girls – why not treat him to a Complete Poker Night – gift box? The perfect choice for any Gifts for Him – or for any poker-based party or get-together – the Complete Poker Night – Gift Box contains every single piece of kit needed to play, right out of the box! In addition to a set of online casino playing cards, the Complete Poker Night – Gift Box also includes poker chips, invitation cards, and even a recipe book for great food during the big game. Naturally, the set also includes a rulebook – together with some hints and tips on strategy – but the man in your life – no matter how much he appreciates your choice of Gifts for Him – would never admit to needing to make use of such tools.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for Poker-related Gifts for Him with a twist, why not opt for a Poker Experience event? After all, your significant other might well already have everything he already needs to have a big poker night in. Suitable for complete beginners and seasoned players, the Poker Experience starts off with a delicious welcome drink and leads on to a set of experienced croupiers showing your man the ropes of the game – or even potentially pitting their skills against his formidable poker-playing skills. Each and every participant is guaranteed a seat on at least two poker games, and the winner of the final is assured a high quality and poker-related prize. In the world of Gifts for Him, it really is a gift of champions; and as the event is available as a gift for two, it’s the perfect way to spend a bit of time with your man, and at the same time share a pastime that you can both enjoy.

Outside of the realm of Gifts for Him, what is the history behind the game of blackjack, and where did it come from? The history of this exciting and challenging game is not entirely complete, but it is possible that its origins might well go back as far as the 15th century to a German game known as Pochspiel. Interestingly, there also exist a number of similarities between Poker and a Persian game known as As Nas; although the latter would probably not score quite so highly on his list of potential Gifts for Him. Despite these possible links, not to mention suggested relationships with card games from other countries, there also exists a theory that wholeheartedly rejects such ancestral ideas. According to this school of thought, while the exact nature of the card play could have been derived from any number of different games, Poker’s unique feature lays in the realm of betting.

However, perhaps as a result of the game’s disputed history, modern poker is actually a game with many different variations. In addition to the highly popular community games known as Texas Hold-Em and Omaha, Poker fans can also enjoy other exciting varieties, such as Draw Poker, Stud Poker – either in the form of five or seven card stud – and even ‘standard’ Straight Poker. The choices are endless, and Poker-related Gifts for Him won’t limit the possibilities in any way. So, check your cards, eye-up your competition and enjoy!

Six Hour Heads-Up Battle Ends With German Heinz Winning WSOP Title
Back in July, nine strangers were introduced to one another through their stellar play at the World Series of Poker main event. The November Nine then took a break from the main event tables for several months, and reconvened in Las Vegas this past weekend to finish the biggest poker tournament in the world.Pius Heinz was one of those players that had a dream to become the next main event champion. This week, Heinz completed his journey and became the first player ever from Germany to win the main event. The twenty-two year old Heinz became an instant celebrity when he outlasted Martin Staszko after a six hour battle.Heinz and Staszko’s heads-up match went on for six hours and captivated the followers of both players. The two players exchanged the chip lead several times over the course of play, but it was Heinz who eventually came out on top, taking home almost $9 million for the win. Staszko won over $5 million for his runner-up performance.ESPN helped bring even more exposure to an event that already was the most celebrated poker tournament in the world. The final table having players from seven different countries helped the television audience, as more countries watched the WSOP main event final table than ever before. It is expected that the popularity will continue to grow as online gambling becomes more accepted in the US.Ben Lamb was the top American finisher in the main event. Lamb made it all the way to the three way play, but he busted out just four hands into the new day. Lamb’s elimination set the stage for one of the longest heads-up battles in the history of the main event. The record for a heads-up challenge at the main event was set in 1983, when Tom McEvoy and Rod Peate played for 7.5 hours.Lamb not only won the third place money of over $3.5 million, but he also walked away with the Player of the Year honor. Lamb had himself an impressive WSOP, which ended in shocking fashion when he called an all-in from Staszko while holding only king-jack.

Free poker sites are on the way
Free poker sites are on the way Choose your language Thursday, Jan 19, 2012 Home > Poker Strategy > Articles > Free poker sites are on the way by Sunday,2 Oct 2011 Hoping for changes to the law casinos in Vegas and California are starting free poker sites Casinos have made it clear that they are betting on a change in the laws on online gaming. Most online gaming companies are sure that it is only a matter of time before casino gaming is legalised and are making preparations to cash in the instant Americans are once again allowed to play the game they love. Two separate casino companies have already created their own free play poker sites. Such sites allow people to play poker for points every time they win, those points are then traded in for various prizes such as electronic goods and even cars. These sites cash in on sweepstake laws that mean players can still get in on the action provided by poker without having to break the law. It also means that when the gaming laws change they will already have some market share for when they change their setup to allow real money games.Owner of the South Point Hotel and Casino, Michael Gaughan has announced that his free poker site will have the same name as the casino and will be using the ZEN network as their framework for operating the site. The site is expected to be up and running sometime in October. In addition to prizes there are even cash gifts on offer with the site to be funded exclusively by advertising and sponsorship deals. Zen also runs the poker rooms cardplayerpoker.com and spadesclub.com and Card Player magazine. According to Guaghan the website is only the first step and he intends to apply for an intrastate license at some point in the future. The other casino to open a new site is the Barona Resort in San Diego which is launching a Beta site for a free poker room online. The only players who are eligible to use the site are Club Barona members and the site will work in much the same way as that described above. The manager of the Barona hotel and resort, Rick Salinas, has said that We are always looking for new and inventive way to excite our players and launching this free to play site is just another way to provide more fun for our players while at home. The platform is being provided by the GTECH G2 internet company and offers a whole range of variations of poker.

Betting Strategy at Three Card Poker
Although this table game uses the hand rankings and general concept of poker, it lacks the subtlety and skill of variations like Texas holdem and seven card stud, where the players compete directly with one another. In fact, three card poker is even simpler to play than blackjack, in which the player must learn the optimal decision for each set of hands in relation to the dealers up card. Three card poker involves only three decisions: Is it worth playing due to the payout structure? Should I bet the Pair Plus? Do I fold or play my hand? Lets start with the first question. While roughly similar, there are several different payout structures on the ante bet, which vary from casino to casino. Fortunately, the difference in house edge in almost all of these structures is less than 1%. When choosing where to play, your best option will be a table that pays 5 to 1 on a straight flush and 4 to 1 on three of a kind, although 3 to 1 isnt much worse. You should be aware, however, that there are some casinos that do not pay a bonus on the ante when the player makes a straight, improving the house edge. If possible, avoid three card poker at these casinos, even if a special payout for a Mini Royal Flush is offered. The next decision you need to make is whether or not to play the Pair Plus circle. A friend of mine once told me a story about how his father had won a lot of money using the strategy of betting on the Pair Plus, as if this were some sort of expert move. On the contrary, the Pair Plus is often seen as a sucker bet, as it serves merely to increase the house edge, though the prospect of a big payday on a straight flush is certainly enticing. The most common pay structure, in which a flush pays 3 to 1, is actually the least favorable to the player. In general, play at places that offer 4 to 1 odds on a flush and 6 to 1 on a straight; the other hands are rare enough that slight variations in the payout do not much matter. If youve decided to play in the game at all, you must then choose to fold or play your hand each round. Fortunately, this is probably the easiest decision of all: bet the Play if your hand is Q-6-4 or better and fold if it is lower. In other words, play any hand that contains a king, any hand that contains a queen and a seven or better, and any hand that contains a queen, a six, and a four or better. This hand is the cutoff point for where the player begins to lose less than he would lose by folding. Using this strategy and betting the Pair Plus would give the house an edge of a little over 5%, which is higher than blackjack and some bets on the craps table but not too bad when compared with many of the other bets in the casino.

Negreanu knows what’s what in the world of poker
by Thursday,22 Sep 2011 Already a poker legend Daniel Negreanu is taking a bigger role behind the scenes Some of the biggest poker stars in the world are logging on to their PokerStars accounts in order to get in on the estimated $30 million dollars cash thats available in the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) event that is happening right now and continues for the best part of a month. One player who cant stop writing, tweeting and generally blabbing about the massive event is Canadian Poker mega star Daniel Negreanu. This player is one of the most instantly recognisable faces of the game and is constantly appearing on television in both live events as well as online games. In the wake of the Black Friday events Negreanu left his home in Las Vegas, Nevada and returned to his native Canada in order to continue playing the online game. The WCOOP will provide him with an excellent opportunity to ensure that this was the right decision as he looks to grab a big piece of the pot in the coming days. As one of the faces of PokerStars Negreanu is often talking about their events and issues, recently he tweeted about their technical issues to reassure players that they were under control. He is known not to shy away from the major issues of the day and strongly criticised Full Tilt Poker when they were involved in a spat with fellow poker megastar Phil Ivey over their refusal to payback their players funds. The Canadian player isnt just valued for his poker skills but also for his business acumen. The Vice President of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), Ty Stewart, said of Negreanu that “He’s the complete package. There are many brilliant thinkers on the poker side but he understands the business and marketing side as well as anyone is able to.” He even went as far as saying Id happily work for him one day. Negreanu is known for associating not just with poker players but also with the executives who run the tournaments, offering advice on how to improve their services and attract more players. Even Phil Helmuth admits that Negreanu is one helluva businessman saying “Yeah, he’s definitely a good ambassador for poker,” Hellmuth admitted. “He’s a really good one, maybe great. He generates a lot of interest amongst fans all across the planet. People want to watch him play, hear his shtick, you know?
